VABA Book Fair May 3, 2026

Heading to St. Albans early tomorrow morning to set-up for the 32nd VABA Books, Postcards, & Ephemera Fair. It’s being held at the St. Albans City Hall on Main Street in St. Albans, VT. The Hall will open at 10am and goes to 4pm. There will be many tables filled with used, antiquarian books, maps, and other tantalizing book-related stuff.

At the fair there will be a book-binding specialist Graham Hill from Craftsbury, VT. The bindery focuses on the restoration of old volumes, and the creation of fresh bindings for those well-loved classics.

Also, within the hall there will be many authors of self-published books. A wonderful companion to the used books.

Vermont ephemera expert and author, Kevin Graffagnino, will present during the day the process behind collecting Vermont-focused materials exploring the state’s history. Graffagnino has authored many books on Vermont history using historical materials. One of his latest books is Ira Allen: A Biography. A must read!

I’m still pulling books to bring. To me it is overwhelming. I want to bring books that highlight my shop and show it’s diversity. I’ve limited myself to four boxes. I’m still favoring my knee. I’ve purchased a new cart but have yet to put it together and once complete I hope it’ll fit in my car! Missing my truck. I’ll also bring the smaller display case and the chest it sits upon. I’ll put some of the high-end books in the case and use shelves from the chest for ephemeral. Such a daunting task for this bookseller.

Hope to see you there! Regardless, I’ll report back.

Photo below shows my 2025 booth. I forgot to bring tablecloths. You know, I don’t own a rectangle cloth as I’ve a round dining table so I’m making do with quilts.
