Green was the silence, wet was the light, the month of June trembled like a butterfly. – Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets.
I’m back in the shop. My impromptu trip went well. Relaxing. Beautiful weather. One day of rain, but Texas needed rain. Family time wasn’t enough for me, but I made the best of it.
I got up one morning fairly early. First one downstairs. Made coffee and ventured outside to enjoy the warm temps and my coffee. Birds were chirping but there was one I didn’t recognize. Sounded like an owl. I opened my birding app and tried to capture the sound. I was listening to the White-winged Dove. You know, Stevie Nicks sings of it in Edge of Seventeen. Sorry to tell Stevie but the dove I was listening to didn’t sound like she was singing. More squawking but whatever. A great song as we all know. Unfortunately, the dove was too far away to take its picture.
Trying to stop the flow of books into the store for a bit. Need to make room on the shelves to put up what I currently have. I need to come out from some of the boxes that are surrounding me. I accepted too many large collections at the same time a while back.
With nice weather I can start bringing boxes of books outside for the Outdoor Sale. Hardcover books $1 and paperbacks 50-cents. Once I feel I have breathing room I will accept books. Part of the used bookstore cycle.
In the shop we buy and sell them, but in truth books have no owner. Every book you see here has been somebody’s best friend. – Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Shadow of the Wind (Have you read this book? Another fav of mine)
